SALISBURY, NC – The Livingstone College volleyball team completed its 2009 campaign Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Voorhees College.
Livingstone finishes the season with a 16-8 overall record.
Livingstone dominated the first game, jumping out to a 9-0 lead. Voorhees got within seven at 15-8, but that was as close as they got. The Blue Bears increased their lead to 10 at 20-10 and took the first game 25-13.
In the second game, Livingstone fell behind early 4-1 and continued to trail at 10-4, but battled back to take the next six points to square the game at 10-10. With the game tied at 13-13, the Blue Bears took the last 12 points of the game to take game two 25-13.
The final game was a blowout early, but Voorhees hung tough, but couldn't mount much of a challenge to the Blue Bear offense. Livingstone took the third game 25-20.
Lashaundra Ferguson led the Blue Bears with 17 kills and a .469 hitting percentage. As a team the Blue Bears hit .290 with 37 kills, 31 assists, 25 digs and two team blocks.
