SALISBURY, NC – The Livingstone College Athletic Department hosted its annual Athletic Awards Banquet Friday evening, honoring the athletic and academic achievements of the 2010-2011 year and recognizing the senior student-athletes who have contributed to their respective programs.

Members of the men's and women's basketball teams dominated the top honors of the evening with Darius Cox being honored as the Male Athlete of the Year and Brittany Wright as the Female Athlete of the Year.  Men's basketball head coach was named at the Coach of the Year and Wright also was awarded the Athletic Director's Award.

Livingstone also honored some outstanding individual achievements from the last year.  The men's basketball team was recognized for becoming the first men's basketball team to make the CIAA Championship while track and field participants Bryan Aycoth and Ahmad Garrison were both honored for record-breaking performances throughout the season.

The senior student-athletes who were honored were:

Men's Track & Field: Tim Handy and Derrick Tinsley
Women's Track & Field: Winnie Chepchumba
Volleyball/Softball: Shannon Allen, Whitney Crawford, Lashaundra Ferguson, Michelle Thompson and Shanice Wilcox
