PEMBROKE, NC – Darius Cox has been named to the 2010-2011 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association College Division All-State Second Team, it was announced Monday.
Cox, a senior from Monroe, NC, had a standout season for the Blue Bears, leading the team in both scoring and rebounding. Cox averaged 15.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 29 contests this season.
Cox has had a number of accolades this season. Cox was named to the CIAA All-Conference Team and was also named the MVP of the CIAA Championship Game. Cox was also selected to participate in the HBC All-Star Classic, the first Livingstone player to be selected for the event.
Cox is the first Livingstone men's basketball player to be selected to the All-State Team. The team consists of student-athletes from North Carolina NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA institutions. Nominees are submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and the teams are voted on by NCCSIA members.
