ETTRICK, VA – Livingstone senior defensive back Alkeem Deloatch was named to the Pre-season All-CIAA Team and the Blue Bears were predicted to finish 12th in the league, it was announced Thursday at the Football Kick-Off Press Conference held on the campus of Virginia State University.

 

Deloatch, a native of Weldon, NC, was voted to the Pre-Season All-CIAA Team by the league’s head coaches and Sports Information Directors.

 

Last season Deloatch led Livingstone and the CIAA in tackles with 69 solo tackles and 25 tackle assists for a total of 94.  Deloatch also added one sack, one interception and three forced fumbles to lead the Blue Bear defense.

 

Livingstone was voted by the league’s head coaches to finish 12th in the CIAA this season ahead of the Lions of Lincoln University.  Livingstone finished last season with an 0-10 overall record.

 

Fayetteville State, the 2009 CIAA Champions, were predicted to finish 1st followed by Shaw University and Bowie State University.

 

The Blue Bears will open up the 2010 campaign under new Head Coach Elvin James on August 28, 2010 when they travel to Ettrick, VA to play the Virginia State Trojans.  Livingstone will open its home schedule on September 11, when they host cross-town rival, Catawba College.
