SALISBURY, NC – Blue Bear defensive back Alkeem Deloatch (Weldon, NC, Weldon)has been named to the Lindy’s Pre-Season Division II All-American Defensive Second Team it was announced Wednesday.
Deloatch, a senior from Halifax, NC, had an impressive season for the Blue Bears recording 94 tackles in 10 games for Livingstone which led the CIAA. Deloatch also record eight tackles for loss, along with one sack, one interception, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Deloatch was one of six CIAA athletes honored. David Mimms of Virginia Union (Offensive Line) and Malcolm Jenkins of Elizabeth City State (Defensive Line) were both named to First Teams. Marcus McElveen (Offensive Line) and Marcus Crump (Defensive Line) of St. Augustine’s along with Kenneth Turner (Defensive Back) from Bowie State were also named to Second Teams.
The Blue Bears will begin their season on August 28 when they travel to Virginia State. Livingstone’s first home contest will be September 11 when it hosts Catawba.
