Thompson and Brevard Awarded Softball Honors

HAMPTON, VA – Livingstone softball players Michelle Thompson and Oni-Ife Brevard were honored Tuesday by the CIAA.

 

Thompson, a junior outfielder from Nassau, Bahamas, was named to the All-CIAA Second Team.  Thompson was a solid hitter for the Blue Bears this season.  Thompson led the team with a .481 hitting percentage in 19 games played.  Thompson recorded 26 hits, 14 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

 

Brevard, a freshman catcher from Chicopee, MA was named the CIAA All-Rookie Team.  Brevard was a solid partner to pitcher Shaniqua Harrison and came on late in the season as a strong hitter.  Brevard tallied a .949 fielding percentage, committing only nine errors in 176 chances.  Brevard hit .230 for the season in 25 games with 14 hits, 22 RBIs and 14 runs scored. 

 

The Blue Bears finished their 2010 campaign with an 11-15 overall record, which set a wins record for the Livingstone softball program.
