Day 1 Results
MERRY HILL, NC – Livingstone’s Kenny Bethea started his 2010 golf season shooting a round-low 3-under par, 69, on day one of the CIAA Golf Round-Up.
Bethea’s low round of 69 was five shots better than the second player, Fayetteville’s Jedidiah Frazier who shot a 2-over, 74.
Overall, Livingstone’s four-player team shot a total score 400, 112 shots over par. Livingstone’s Anthony Scott and Kenny Purefoy shot a 101 and 102 respectively while Linwood Jenkins rounded out the Blue Bear team with a 128.
Fayetteville State leads overall after day one as the Bronco team shot a 15-over, 303. Virginia State followed 21 shots behind, shooting a 324. Chowan (330, +42) is currently in third followed by St. Augustine’s (341, +53), Virginia Union (342, +54), Livingstone (400, +112), Elizabeth City State (412, +128), and St. Paul’s College (536, +248). Johnson C. Smith is also competing, but failed to register the required four golfers to be included in the team results.
The second and final day of the tournament will be held on Tuesday.
