Brittany Wright (East Orange, NJ) had 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lady Blue Bears of Livingstone College in the lost to Lady Bears of Shaw University last night in Spaulding Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC.
The first five minutes of the game saw exchanges between both teams and at 16:14 mark, the Lady Blue Bears were ahead 8-4. SU went on a 22-9 run and with 6:45 left in the game lead 27-17. Both teams would trade baskets, but the Lady Bears (3-0 overall, 2-0 CIAA) would come out with 47-26 lead at the half.
The Lady Blue Bears got off to a slow start and would find themselves trailing by 23 points in the second half. Lead by Wright with 7 points,
Kalyela Josephs (Jacksonville, FL) with 9 points and
Asheka Hudson(Milwaukee, WI) with 5 points the Lady Blue Bears made a late charge in the second half, but fell short to Shaw University 70-56.
Four Lady Bears finish in double figures with Shaun Andrus (Akron, OH) leading the way with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the Lady Bears of Shaw University.
The Lady Blue Bears (2-2 overall, 0-1 in the western division, 1-2 in the CIAA) would be home for the Thanksgiving Holidays and their next games will find them facing the women of West Alabama and West Florida in the West Florida Tournament on December 5-6, 2008.
