Two Blue Bears Receive Week Five Honors In The CIAA!

Salisbury, NC – There is a little light at the end of the tunnel. The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) named Livingstone College Linebacker Robert Massey-Brice Rookie of the Week and Head Coach Lamonte J. Massie Coach of the Week for the week ending September 27, 2008.
Massey-Brice, a freshman Linebacker from Charlotte, NC lead Livingstone College to their first win in over 19 games dating back to September 23, 2006, when Massey-Brice was a junior in Kennedy Charter Public High School. The victory was the first for the Blue Bears over the Lions of Lincoln University (PA) 27-10 on September 27, 2008.
Massey-Brice lead the team with 12 total tackles and 1 sack which caused s fumble that help secure the game for Livingstone. Currently Massey-Brice is 4th in total tackles among CIAA leaders.
Coach Massie and his staff were instrumental in working to end the 19 game losing streak that plagued Livingstone. This is the first victory in Massie’s two year tenure at Livingstone College. “We came close to tasting victory against Bowie State University last week. The guys kept working hard and we achieved one goal and at a time. Now we put all our efforts into this week’s opponent which just so happens to be our oldest rival.” said by Head Coach Massie.
So the Blue Bears will continue on with One Play at a time, One Game at a time, and One Win at a time.
The Blue Bears are on the road to face the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University at Irwin Belk Complex / Memorial Stadium at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of Johnson C. Smith. Saturday October 4, 2008. The two schools will square off in the oldest rivalry, 116 years, in black college football. This would mark the 61st meeting between the Blue Bears and the Golden Bulls.
