THE STREAK IS OVER AND LIVINGSTONE WINS ITS FIRST!
Lincoln, PA – There is something to be said about your first win…
On a rainy day the Blue Bears of Livingstone College would find the weather to be to their liking. Livingstone traveled to Lincoln, PA to take on the Lions of Lincoln University. Livingstone has ended their loosing “Streak of 19”, which dated back to October 23rd, 2006. This 27 – 10 win over Lincoln, is the first under the leadership of Head Coach Lamonte J. Massie.
Lincoln would win the coin toss and defer to the second half. This would be the beginning of the end for the young Lion team. On the opening kick-off, Livingstone’s #21 Rashaad Flucker, would take the ball back to Lincoln’s 38 yard line. Flucker rushed for 150 yards on 25 attempts and was the leading rusher of the day. #5 Steven Williams, Livingstone’s Quarterback would cap off the 4 play drive with a 7 yard touchdown run. Piscitello kicked the extra point and Livingstone had their first lead of the game (7-0).
Lincoln would answer back quickly when #86 Michael Marchand would kick a 20 yard field goal to put the Lions on the board with 3 points (7-3).
Livingstone would again score a touchdown on their next position when Williams would connect with #11, Kerry Hammock for a 24 yard touchdown pass for the Blue Bears. Again Piscitello kicked another field after the touchdown and the Blue Bears would lead early in the 1st quarter (14-3).
Lincoln would again make their way into the red zone, but their drive was stalled and they would have a miscue with the snap that would give the ball back to Livingstone on their own 33 yard line. The Lions would stop the Blue Bears and get the ball back with their chance to score their first touchdown of the game. The Blue Bears would lend them a helping hand and give them a string of penalties that put the Lions on the 12 yard line. #2, Kareem Dennis threw a 12 yard touchdown pass to # 5, Trey Thomas and the kick was good to give Livingstone a 14 – 10 lead over Lincoln.
Livingstone would again find good fortune when #44, Anthony Earles would recover a fumble by Lincoln’s #21, D’ante Smith which put them on their 40 yard line.   Four plays later and Williams would lunge into the end zone for another Blue Bear Score. Piscitello would miss the extra point and the score at the half was 20-10 Livingstone.
Both teams would cool off after the half and only trade field position, but no points would come about. However, Piscitello would down his 3rd punt of the day inside the 10 yard line. Dennis would quickly be sacked by #43, Justin Johnson of Livingstone, who knocked the ball free and it was recovered in the end zone by #1 Robert Massie-Brice. This gave the Blue Bears a 27-10 lead late in the 3rd quarter. The final score of the game was 27-10, Livingstone College over Lincoln University.
